Where It Started
Double Down Hospitality didn’t start with a master plan or a boardroom strategy. It started with a belief — that hospitality done right is a real competitive advantage, and that people can taste the difference when a business actually gives a damn.
In 1998, Slice Factory opened its doors in Chicago as a neighborhood pizza shop built on an immigrant family’s dream, a love for bold food, and an unshakeable commitment to showing up every single day. It wasn’t just a restaurant — it was a standard. A proof of concept that doing things the hard way, with fresh ingredients and real service, was a formula worth doubling down on.
From that foundation, Double Down Hospitality grew. Concept by concept, neighborhood by neighborhood. A wood-fired taco brand. A full-service catering operation. A chef-prepared meal delivery service. A neighborhood bar. Each one built to solve a real need, each one held to the same uncompromising standard that started with a single jumbo slice in Chicago.

The Founder
Founder & CEO — Double Down Hospitality & Slice Factory
Dom DiDiana grew up in Naples, Italy, where food wasn’t just sustenance — it was how family showed up for each other. When his family immigrated to Chicago in the 1990s, they brought that philosophy with them and eventually opened a neighborhood pizza restaurant.
Inspired by that story, Dom launched Slice Factory in 1998 with a simple idea: serve bold, craveable food with genuine hospitality and never cut corners. Over the next two decades he built it from a single Chicago pizzeria into a 12-location fast-casual franchise — and then kept going, expanding into tacos, catering, meal delivery, and neighborhood dining under the Double Down Hospitality umbrella.
Dom’s approach has never changed: show up every day, out-execute everyone around you, and treat every guest like they matter.
